July 14, 2011 Pawlenty has a story to tell after all
Conventional wisdom is that Pawlenty has no real logic or theme to his candidacy. By contrast, Gov. Perry’s “story” if he runs is that Texas is growing, and what he did for Texas he can do for America.
But there’s an inconvenient fact:
Texas unemployment 8%
Minnesota unemployment 6.6%
Maybe Pawlenty’s theme should be: what he did for Minnesota he can do for America.*
By the way, according to the Cato Institute, Pawlenty also has a more conservative record on state spending than Perry.
*Counterargument: how much difference does a governor really make? Well,I never said the argument was bulletproof!
